
via Latest & Breaking News on Fox News <p>Multiple individuals have died this month amid scorching temperatures in the Grand Canyon, according to the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener" href="https://www.foxnews.com/category/travel/general/national-parks">National Park Service (NPS)</a>.</p><p>"<span suggestionid="5150a94b-65b7-40c4-a0b3-1803fa282f7b" highlighted="false" suggestiontype="_METADATA" isinsertion="false" class="_suggestionUnderline_1elhj_1268 _agentSuggestion_1elhj_1284" data-suggestion-id="5150a94b-65b7-40c4-a0b3-1803fa282f7b" data-is-insertion="false" data-suggestion-type="_METADATA" data-highlighted="false" contenteditable="false">Grand Canyon National Park rangers</span> and emergency personnel responded to two separate heat-related incidents on June 12 and June 16, resulting in three deaths," a June 19 press release said. "In both cases, the deceased hikers were hiking trails in the Inner Canyon, where temperatures can exceed 109 F in the shade during midday hours."</p><p>The agency indicated that one instance involved the death of one man, and in another case a man and a woman were both found dead.</p><p><a target="_blank" rel="noopener" href="https://www.foxnews.com/travel/hikers-face-urgent-grand-canyon-heat-warning-teens-death-popular-trail"><strong>HIKERS FACE URGENT GRAND CANYON HEAT WARNING AFTER TEEN'S DEATH ON POPULAR TRAIL</strong></a></p><p>"On June 12, a 72-year-old male succumbed to symptoms of <span suggestionid="e3dfb3d7-0d2e-480c-b1c1-89a29aa74675" highlighted="false" suggestiontype="_METADATA" isinsertion="false" class="_suggestionUnderline_1elhj_1268 _agentSuggestion_1elhj_1284" data-suggestion-id="e3dfb3d7-0d2e-480c-b1c1-89a29aa74675" data-is-insertion="false" data-suggestion-type="_METADATA" data-highlighted="false" contenteditable="false">heat-related illness</span> along the South Kaibab Trail; on June 16, a 67-yr old male and a 68-yr old female also appear to have succumbed to symptoms of heat-related illness on the North Kaibab Trail, although the investigation is still ongoing," the NPS explained.</p><p>"Despite rapid response and aerial support, all three individuals were found deceased when responders arrived. National Park Service rangers responded and located the individual approximately 30 feet below the trail in a remote area near Garden Creek," the agency noted. The incident is under investigation in coordination with the Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office," the June 6 release noted.</p>
