Residents wake up screaming as cops race to rescue them from late-night apartment blaze: video


via Latest & Breaking News on Fox News <p>Residents at a <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/category/us/us-regions/west/utah" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Utah</a> apartment complex awoke in horror in the early morning hours of June 7 as officers from the St. George Police Department told them that their homes were on fire, bodycam footage obtained by Fox News Digital shows.</p><p>Video shows a cop busting down the apartment door of a sleeping family, urgently alerting them, "Hey, you guys, your unit's on fire, you need to get out!"</p><p>"Wait what?" the residents can be heard responding.</p><p>Another clip shows an <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/florida-deputy-rescues-unconscious-woman-from-house-fire-carries-her-safety-body-camera-records" target="_blank" rel="noopener">officer physically guiding a shirtless</a> resident through his living room into the orange-tinged open air, yelling, "Run, run!"</p><p><a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/firefighter-pulls-toddler-burning-apartment-building-dramatic-early-morning-rescue-video" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>FIREFIGHTER PULLS TODDLER FROM BURNING APARTMENT BUILDING IN DRAMATIC EARLY MORNING RESCUE: VIDEO</strong></a></p><p>"Hey everybody out!" an officer can be heard shouting in the bodycam footage.</p><p>Officers communicated over radio about a man stuck in a second-floor apartment that was on fire. Footage shows the officers <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/bodycam-captures-rescue-100-year-old-woman-during-eaton-fire" target="_blank" rel="noopener">using a ladder to escort</a> the resident to safety.</p><p>"There's one more guy up there!" an officer yells.</p><p><a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/new-jersey-child-jumps-from-second-floor-burning-home-officers-arms" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>NEW JERSEY CHILD JUMPS FROM SECOND FLOOR OF BURNING HOME INTO OFFICER'S ARMS</strong></a></p><p>One sleeping resident did not respond to an officer's warning.</p><p>"Hey, building's on fire, you gotta get out!" an officer yelled while shining a flashlight on the slumbering citizen's face. Video then showed the resident wake up screaming as a loud bang occurred.</p><p>"You gotta go! Let's go, let's go!" the officer yelled as he yanked the resident out of bed.</p><p>Further video shows <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/colorado-deputies-daring-rescue-two-children-from-house-fire-captured-daring-body-camera-video" target="_blank" rel="noopener">officers calmly evacuating two</a> small children as the kids' family comforts them.</p><p>"Come here buddy, I'm gonna lift you over the wall, it's alright, okay?" an officer says.</p><p><a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/bodycam-footage-captures-tennessee-police-officer-saving-mother-two-kids-burning-two-story-home" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>BODYCAM FOOTAGE CAPTURES TENNESSEE POLICE OFFICER SAVING MOTHER AND TWO KIDS FROM BURNING TWO-STORY HOME</strong></a></p><p>A <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/dramatic-bodycam-footage-captures-police-rescue-trapped-firefighter-illinois-house-explosion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">large explosion can be heard</a> toward the end of the video as a mother pushes a baby in a stroller. One officer at the end of the video says a roof collapsed on top of him.</p><p>Eight officers who responded to the incident were sent to the hospital and <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/hero-police-officers-storm-inferno-save-5-passengers-fireball-crash" target="_blank" rel="noopener">treated for smoke inhalation</a>, but all have since been released, according to the St. George Police Department.</p><p>The fire began in one unit and spread out through a shared attic, eventually burning down or damaging 20 units in total, <a href="https://www.fox13now.com/news/local-news/st-george/police-release-body-cam-footage-of-rescue-efforts-during-st-george-apartment-fire" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">according to</a> FOX 13 Salt Lake City.</p><p>Fox News Digital contacted St. George Police Department for further information.</p>
